Locksley Resources Stakes 491 Claims in Mojave Region as U.S. Critical Minerals Race Heats Up

In a major step for the U.S. critical minerals supply chain, Locksley Resources has moved to secure a larger footprint in California’s Mojave region, expanding its ground near some of the nation’s most significant rare earth deposits.

The critical minerals explorer announced that it has added 249 additional claims to its already substantial holdings of more than 40 km² of prospective ground. With the new acreage, Locksley Resources now controls a total of 491 claims, positioning itself as one of the key private players in the area.

STORY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Locksley Resources increases Mojave landholding to 491 claims

  • New ground borders Mountain Pass rare earth mine owned by MP Materials

  • Focus on antimony, rare earth elements (REEs) and polymetallic mineralisation

  • Favourable geology with carbonatites and regional structures

  • Part of the company’s Critical Minerals and Energy Resilience Strategy

The newly staked claims sit directly adjacent to Locksley Resources’ existing tenements and abut the landholding that includes the Mountain Pass rare earth mine, operated by MP Materials. By expanding into this terrain, the company says it is not only strengthening its land position but also securing ground close to its recently discovered antimony, REEs and polymetallic mineralisation.

With demand for antimony and REEs underpinned by U.S. supply chain security initiatives, the expanded landholding provides Locksley with a broader platform to advance multiple exploration and development opportunities,” said Nathan Lude, the company’s head of strategy, capital markets and commercialisation.

The south-eastern part of the new claims incorporates gneissic geology known to host the Mountain Pass mine and carbonatites, which are considered prime sources for rare earth elements. According to Julian Woodcock, Locksley’s technical director, geophysical data is revealing compelling structures.

Substantial regional north to north-west striking structures are evident in the magnetic geophysics datasets,” Woodcock said. “These structures could potentially be conduits for REE-bearing carbonatites and relate to other mineralisation styles.

He also highlighted how the northern claims bring the company closer to a major gold asset in the district. “The new northern claims are located just three kilometres along strike from Dateline Resources’ Colosseum Gold Project,” Woodcock noted. “In addition, the USGS geochemical database indicates polymetallic and precious metals occurrences in the area immediately adjoining the new northern claims. As such, there are multiple commodity opportunities evident within this claim area.

By building a land position next to both the Mountain Pass mine and the Colosseum Gold Project, Locksley Resources is embedding itself in one of America’s most mineral-rich corridors at a time when the country is trying to reduce dependence on overseas supply of critical minerals.

The company, which has operations in both the United States and Australia, is already advancing its Mojave Project targeting rare earth elements and antimony. It has also formed a partnership with Rice University to develop DeepSolv, a domestic processing technology for North American antimony. This collaboration marks the beginning of Locksley Resources’ Critical Minerals and Energy Resilience Strategy, aimed at increasing U.S. self-sufficiency in strategic resources.

With its expanded claim block and ongoing research partnership, Locksley Resources is positioning itself at the forefront of the U.S. drive for secure supply chains in critical minerals and rare earth elements.
