“The safety of our patients and staff remains our top priority,” Jay said in an emailed statement.
One witness, Earlene Ingram, 34, shared her terrifying experience. Ingram was at the hospital with her mother for an outpatient surgery when the incident occurred.
“We checked in at the basement area around 9:30 a.m.,” Ingram explained. “Around 10 a.m., we heard ‘code blue’ over the PA system. I didn’t know what that meant, but my heart dropped.”
Separated from her mother during the confusion, Ingram waited outside with other visitors and relatives.
