Breaking Down the Oscar Nominations 2024: Snubs Revealed by Zazie Beetz and Jack Quaid

The Oscar nominations 2024 are revealed live from the Samuel Goldwyn Theater by Zazie Beetz and Jack Quaid. Notable news for numerous noteworthy films from the previous year is brought forward by the nominations. Movies including “Oppenheimer,” “Barbie,” “Killers of the Flower Moon,” “Poor Things,” and “The Holdovers” were thought to be serious contenders before the nominations were revealed.

They had previously garnered support from numerous guilds of directors, performers, and producers who are members of the Academy’s voting body, in addition to their impressive wins at the Critics Choice and Golden Globes. But there were also a lot of other deserving candidates, from animated blockbusters like “The Boy and the Heron” and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” to fellow Best Picture nominees like “Maestro” and “Past Lives.”

Lily Gladstone’s nomination creates history. ‘Poor Things’ earns eleven nominations, while ‘Oppenheimer’ receives 13. Bradley Cooper receives three nominations, increasing his total to twelve throughout his career. But neither he nor Greta Gerwig received the Best Director award.

Nostalgic Spell: Selena Gomez Resumes Successful Role as Alex Russo in Wizards of Waverly Place on January 18

Selena Gomez‘s most recent TV project is working like magic. The 31-year-old singer-actress made the formal announcement on Thursday, January 18, that she would be reprising her legendary role as Alex Russo in the Wizards of Waverly Place premiere episode. A gloomy endeavor, the pilot is also produced by former co-star David Henrie.

As initially reported by a leading news agency, the revival will begin following the enigmatic event in “WizardsTech,” with Gomez and Henrie’s characters—the Russo siblings Alex and Justin, respectively—participating in the original Wizards of Waverly Place series that ran from 2007 to 2012 on the Disney Channel. Like their fictional father Jerry (played by David Deluise), Justin has given up his magical abilities in favor of a typical human life with his wife and two children. To “ensure the future,” a formidable young wizard named Billy must knock on the Wizarding World’s door, forcing Justin to return to the life he left behind. Scott Thomas and Judd Apatow wrote the pilot for the Disney-ordered series, Raven’s Home.

Henry will be a regular on the show, despite Gomez’s confirmation that she will only be appearing in the remake pilot. The remaining members of the core cast have already been confirmed: Mimi Gianopulos and Alkaios Thiele will portray Justin’s wife and oldest son, respectively, and Janice Leanne Brown will play Billy.

“So excited!!” In the first of two Instagram stories announcing the return of the show, Gomez exclaimed. She posted a photo of herself and Henry in the second, writing, “We’re back.” Henry couldn’t wait to tell everyone the good news. “The Russos are excited to be separate from your family once again, but we’ve grown up in 2024, the year of the magical comeback!” he said on Twitter. Gomez and Henry will produce alongside director Andy Fickman and former president of Disney-branded television Gary Marsh. Wizards 2000 is the third kid-friendly program from the 2000s to undergo a relaunch, after Nickelodeon’s iCarly, Zoey 101, and the recently ended Lizzie McGuire update.
