“This anniversary is our way of saying thank you,” Whataburger President and CEO Debbie Stroud said in a news release. “Thank you for your trust, your loyalty, and for letting us be part of your table.”

The week’s festivities are not limited to the burger deal. On Aug. 5, the company rolled out the second collection of its limited-edition Whataburger Commemorative Cups, timed to coincide with the celebrations. These collectible items are part of the brand’s broader effort to honor its history while giving fans something tangible to remember the milestone by.

The chain, which now operates over 1,100 restaurants across 17 states, has long been most deeply rooted in Texas and the American South and Southwest. From late-night drive-thru runs to family meals in orange-and-white booths, Whataburger has embedded itself in local culture over decades.

On the same day as the burger deal, Whataburger Field will host an “Orange Out” night, uniting baseball fans and burger enthusiasts under one event. The Corpus Christi Hooks, the Houston Astros’ AA affiliate, will face the Tulsa Drillers, the Los Angeles Dodgers’ AA affiliate. In a playful twist for the evening, the Hooks will take the field as the “Honey Butter Chicken Biscuits,” one of the chain’s signature menu items.

Giveaways will add to the atmosphere. The first 1,500 fans through the gates will get a limited-edition Whataguy mask, while the first 5,000 will receive a Whataguy cape — a nod to the company’s mascot. The night will end with an orange-themed fireworks display lighting up the Corpus Christi sky, followed by a parting gift: a coupon for a free Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit to take home.

“As we celebrate this milestone, we’re not just marking time — we’re honoring the memories, the traditions, and the quality experiences that keep folks coming back,” Stroud said.
